ABOUT USWith a BFA in Design for the Theater from the University of Montana and an MA in Costume Design from Purdue University, combined with 7 years as a professional ballroom instructor and competitor, she is perfectly suited to this work. She loves helping competitive dancers discover powerful images that define their personal "character" on the dance floor. She is also very detail oriented, and prides herself on the quality of construction techniques used in Made for Movement costumes.
Marsha works out of a garden level studio in the Minnetonka home she shares with her husband Carl and son Zak. She patterns, cuts and fits all of the women’s costumes and does some construction and decorating herself.
Tailor Michele Kielsa is a 1976 graduate of the Minnesota Technical College system with a certificate in Apparel Services. She went on to teach dressmaking and tailoring in the Technical College system for twelve years.
After leaving the teaching profession in 1991, Michele worked at Paisley Park making personal and stage costumes for Prince. She also did costume work for the Jimmy Buffet Band. She spent a season working with the Downtown Council making costumes for the Holidazzle Parade, as well as creating bridal gowns and Equestrian riding costumes. She began working at Made for Movement in 1995.
Michele patterns, cuts and fits all of the men’s costumes at Made for Movement, as well as sewing and decorating many of the women’s costumes. She enjoys sewing ballroom costumes, and loves the variety of garments she helps to create.
